Alex Jacobowitz in Munich
Its always a nice and delightful walk in the heart of the Bavarian capital of Munich City. One can enjoy interesting Bavarian architecture, street-side cafes, shops of all sorts (from H&M to Hermes), food streets and street performers. I came across number of musicians performing on the streets in marienplatz and one unique performer got my attention. This musician was playing an instrutment called Xylophone. The soft , beautiful tunes that produced soon attracted alot of people and soon the musician was surrounded by instant admirers. Upon some discussion, the performer was identified as Alex Jacobowitz, an American Jew who was a trained musician and had served in Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra during 1983 before hitting the streets of Europe to spread his performance among the masses. Alex wearing the typical kippah performs the works of Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart etc in a wonderful way. Alex also is an expert in playing marimba which is similar to a xylophone but larger in size. Alex has travelled far and wide to display his talent and not to forget, his fantastic humour!

“Musical compositions, it should be remembered, do not inhabit certain countries, certain museums, like paintings and statues. The Mozart Quintet is not shut up in Salzburg: I have it in my pocket” ~Henri Rabaud
